Commitment – What’s That?!
Dr. Terry Munther and I do a radio show the 4th Wednesday of every month from 9-10 am and we discuss a variety of subjects. Some discussions are centered around the content in my book ‘Success or Failure – The Choice is Yours!’ and we also discuss many other subjects that are of concern to small business entrepreneurs or people who are in transition in their lives. I designed this book to assist small business owners in creating a real, concrete, attainable path to achieve their version of success. The great thing about the book is it can be utilized by people in all walks, ages and stages of life.
We have taken the book to Eve’s Place, a shelter for women who have found themselves in abusive relationships, to help them define change in their lives – a path out of the situation they’ve found themselves in. I have been donating the books and my time to facilitate these classes, and am currently looking for sponsors to assist with the purchase of books for the ladies in the shelter. I have received great personal satisfaction out of mentoring and assisting these women through the use of the book. There have been a few success stories which I’m thrilled about and will share in the future. The key is identifying what success means to you. It may seem like a simple task, but it can seem like an unachievable goal at the top of Mt. Everest until you map out a path, through steps, to help you achieve it. One lady wanted to get custody of her child back, but she didn’t have a permanent residence, she didn’t have a job, but she was able to identify that the key starting point was she needed to get her GED. Once she identified her starting point, she was ready to move forward and is now determined that she will achieve gaining custody of her child. What a wonderful transformation to witness!
Here is a link to the last radio show, where the theme centered around commitment. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/boomerandbabe/2011/04/27/tom-loegering-terry-munther–success-or-failure. The word ‘commitment’ scares some people into inaction, and others make commitments easily, but have no thought process behind it to allow them to make it a reality. You can learn more about what the goals of the book are and hear other success stories by tuning in to listen to show. Be sure to bookmark the link so you don’t miss any future episodes. If you do miss an episode, they are available as recordings for your convenience. It’s an hour long show (it goes by too quickly for us), so sit down at your computer when you’ve got a minute to relax and listen in. We do take questions through this site, if you would like us to answer any of your business or goal-setting questions. You can also submit your questions by ‘liking’ our Facebook page, which you can conveniently do right here on the sidebar, and post them to our Wall. Or if you prefer, you can email myself or Terry and we’ll be happy to assist you.
I also wanted to share with you a blog post I was reading that had to do with action and commitment – I hope you enjoy it. If inaction is your plan of action, and you’re happy in your ‘comfort zone’ you will remain standing still as life goes by. You cannot succeed until you fail – ask Thomas Edison!
